SIBU: A woman here lodged a police report against her husband for allegedly abusing and threatening her.
Following the report, a police team arrested the man in his 40s in the city centre.
The victim said she feared for her safety after she saw a gun in her husband’s car on Saturday morning (Sept 26) before deciding to lodge a police report against him.
Three days earlier, the victim also had an argument with the suspect. This was prior to the suspect taking a sharp weapon while chasing her.
Meanwhile, Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the report when contacted.
“The suspect was detained to assist in the investigation. The cause of such action is still under investigation.
“This is a case of domestic violence and criminal intimidation. It will be investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for domestic violence along with Sections 506 and 427 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation,” he explained.
