MIRI: The Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 intelligence team (URM) detained a man and confiscated a Toyota Hilux filled with 1,000 litres of subsidised diesel, valued at RM2,150 at Jalan Piasau 4 on Friday night.
Miri police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said that the arrest was made around 8.23 pm during Ops Taring Kontraban.
“The pick-up truck, which had a storage tank filled with subsidised diesel in its trunk, was stopped by our team during the operation,” he said.
The man could not show any official documents allowing him to handle or transport such regulated items.
The authorities seized everything and handed it over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Miri branch for further action.
The total worth of the seized items is estimated to be RM82,150.
