MIRI: A construction worker in his 50s died when a concrete wall fell on him while constructing a storage room at Taman Serene Jelita, yesterday.
The deceased, identified as Karim by his co-workers, died on the spot due to injuries sustained from the incident at 9.35am.
According to Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, a team of nine firemen from Miri fire station rushed to scene upon receiving a distress call at 9.05am.
“Firemen were called to a home at Taman Serene Jelita on Saturday morning at 9.05am. Unfortunately, the man was already pronounced dead by medical personnel who were arrived at the scene,” Law said.
The body has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
