Man dies in motorcycle accident

PADAWAN: A motorcyclist died in a road accident on Sunday night at Batu 17, Jalan Kuching-Serian.

According to Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, the accident involved two motorcycles heading to Kuching at 8.45pm.

The victim, identified as 67-year-old Tiong Joseph Rijim, who suffered severe injuries to his head and body, was confirmed dead at the scene.

The other motorcyclist, 26-year-old Jesper Andin, escaped unscathed in the accident.

Both motorcycles were heading to Kuching city when the motorcycle driven by the deceased knocked Jesper’s motorcycle from behind.

A post-mortem on the victim was conducted at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Members of the public who have any knowledge or had witnessed the accident should make a police report at Padawan traffic police station. The case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
