MIRI: A 25-year-old man lost his life after a single-vehicle accident involving his four-wheel-drive (4WD) at Jalan Batu Niah here last night.
It was made to understand that the vehicle had skidded off the road, overturned and come to rest in the middle of the road.
The man was the sole occupant of the 4WD.
According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre spokesperson, a team of Batu Niah fire station led by Rary Binjie were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 8.44pm.
Upon arriving, they found the male driver was trapped inside his vehicle.
Using a specialised tool, the firemen were able to retrieve the victim’s body from the wrecked 4WD.
The body has been handed over to the police for further action.
The operation ended at 9.20pm.
