KUCHING: A man was feared drowned at Sarawak river near Kampung Boyan, Petra Jaya this afternoon (Mar 19).

Rescue agencies such as Fire Department, Marine police and the Civil Defense Force (APM) responded to the incident.

A spokesperson from the State Fire Department operations centre said they received a distress call at 3.45pm pertaining to the incident.

“According to witnesses, the man in his 30s was said to have fallen into river from a jetty near Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and did not surface,” the spokesperson said.

Following the call, firemen from Petra Jaya and Batu Lintang were despatched to the scene.

At press time, the man is still not found.
