BINTULU: A man, who was feared missing after he went to swim at a river, was confirmed safe when he returned to his house on Tuesday night.

State Fire Department operations centre said the 43-year-old man was reported missing by his family around 10pm after failing to return home.

Bintulu fire station immediately despatched a team of rescuers to the scene, and conducted a search and rescue (SAR) operation within the area where the man was reported missing. However, they were not able to track the man.

According to the information, the man went for a swim at Sungai Plan with his son but had told his son to return home first. His family was worried when he failed to return home around 7pm.

The SAR operation was called off at 10.57pm when search party noted that the man had returned safely to his house.
