Police personnel arrive at the scene.

KUCHING: Two construction workers found a dead man in a new built row of shophouses at Kota Samarahan near here, yesterday.

The two workers, one known only as Liaw aged 60 and a colleague were checking a newly built row of shop houses to see if there were any cables stolen or other crime activities when they saw a man lying on the ground floor of the one of the shophouses.

However, they did not do anything as they thought that the man was drunk.

At 1pm, Liaw returned to the place and saw that the man was still there.

He then pressed his motorcycle horn hoping that the man would be woken by it. However, the man was unmoved by the noise. Liaw and his colleague then went closer and to their surprise discovered that flies and ants were crawling on the man’s body.

They then immediately contacted the police. The remains were later taken to Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem.
