Man found dead in towing vehicle

MIRI: A 45-year-old man was found dead in a towing vehicle at Kampung Padang Kelulit, Bekenu on Tuesday.  

Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the deceased was identified as Ho Guek Ping from Ulu Sungai Dalam, Taman Tunku.

He said a distress call on the incident was received at 11.58pm.

“Paramedics and a team of police personnel from Bekenu police station were deployed to the scene.

“A check on the deceased’s body found no signs of foul play,” he said.

Mohd Sabri said Ho and his colleague were on their way back to Miri after towing an oil tanker from Batu Niah.

“Ho called his friend at 9.50pm and informed that he was exhausted and would rest in the vehicle for a while at Tamu Kampung Padang Kelulit, Bekenu.

“At 10.55pm, his colleague noticed Ho was unconscious and immediately called the hospital for help,” he said.

The medical officer who arrived at the scene pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
