KUCHING: A man was sentenced to 20 months in prison by the Sessions Court here on Wednesday (March 27) for injuring his wife and father last January.
Kamri Kamil, 46, pleaded guilty to two charges under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code.
According to both charges, he intentionally caused injuries to his 35-year-old wife and 68-year-old father using a wooden stick.
He committed the offence in a house at Kampung Lidah Tanah, Bau, around 10pm on Jan 19 last year.
During the proceedings, deputy public prosecutor Mohammad Fauzan Zamri informed that the accused’s psychiatric report confirmed him fit for plea and trial.
Therefore, Judge Saiful Bahari Adzmi sentenced him to 20 months in prison for each charge besides ordering the accused to serve the sentences concurrently.
According to the case facts, the complainant filed a police report stating that her husband had hit her and her father-in-law with a wooden stick.
As a result of the incident, the complainant suffered injuries to her left shoulder while her father-in-law sustained a tear on his head.
Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accused was apprehended by the police at their Kampung Lidah Tanah residence on the same day, around 10.14pm.
