SIBU: A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 26 years’ imprisonment and 23 strokes of whipping by the Sessions Court here on seven charges of sexual assault, two charges of rape and one charge each of unnatural sex and outraging of modesty.
Noor Azhar Nawawi pleaded guilty to all the charges before Sessions Court Judge Musyiri Peet on Tuesday.
Azhar was accused of committing the offences against two minors between August 2017 and September 7, 2024.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017.
Azhar also faced two charges of rape under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code as well as one charge of unnatural sex under Section 377B of the Penal Code against another minor between 2016 and January 2018.
All these offences were committed by the accused in a house in Kampung Bahagia Jaya.
Azhar, who was not represented by legal counsel, was ordered to serve the prison sentence starting from the date he was arrested on Sept 22, 2024.
