KUCHING: Only just three days into his married life, a 37-year old man has pleaded guilty for dishonestly retaining stolen luxury items and has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Mohamad Yusmadi Osman pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code read before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.
Among the items were a Fossil brand watch, a Tommy Hillfiger watch, two ‘Baby G’ watches, three Guess watches, a Bonia watch, a Smalto watch, a set of Honda keys, a bottle of Versace perfume, and a Fujifilm brand camera.
Mohamad Yusmadi was arrested by the police at Taman Peony, Jalan Matang around 6.30pm on Jan 5, 2023.
If convicted, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to five years or a fine or both.
Based on the facts of the case, on Dec 25, 2022, at around 11.15am, the 31-year-old female complainant realised that an unknown person had entered her house through the living room window by damaging the window’s iron grill.
She then made an inspection and found that some of her luxury items had been stolen.
A police report was made by the complainant for action, leading to the arrest of Mohamad Yusmadi.
All the looted items were shown by the accused himself in his bedroom where he kept the stolen items to which the complainant was able to identify them.
