KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a 55-year-old man to two years and four months in jail for possessing 26.19g of syabu in a house at Batu Kawa.
Kammaroxy Kachi pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali to a charge framed under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39A (1) of the same Act.
The charge carries a jail term of up to five years and up to five lashes of the rotan.
The court ordered Kammaroxy to serve his sentence from yesterday (Apr 19).
He was accused of possessing the prohibited substance in front of a house at Jalan Sin San Tu, Batu Kawa around 2.30pm on Feb 14.
Based on the facts of the case, the police arrested the accused in front of a house as he was suspected of being involved in drug activities.
During the arrest, police seized two plastic packets containing methamphetamine weighing 26.19g.
