KUCHING: A local man, suspected of being involved in a burglary case in Rampangi, was arrested by the police today.
According to Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah in a statement, acting on information, police from the Santubong station apprehended the suspect around 9pm at Mydin Supermarket carpark.
“The suspect is believed to have committed burglary around Rampangi, which was reported on June 11.
“He was arrested in less than 24 hours later.
“A helmet and a mobile phone were also confiscated from the man,” he said.
Background checks found that the suspect had eight prior records relating to various crimes and drug abuse.
Ahsmon added the suspect was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code for possession of stolen goods.
The court also imposed a court bail of RM 3,000 with one local surety, which the suspect paid himself.
Re-mention of the case set for June 21.
