MIRI: A 29-year-old man was arrested on Friday (Feb 18) for threatening his family members and destroyed a property at a house in Tudan Desaras Phase 6 here.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (Feb 16) afternoon around 12pm. The suspect suddenly became agitated and turned aggressive during an argument with his wife over food.
His family members tried to calm him down but to no avail.
He also threatened to kill them.
The suspect’s sister, who feared for their safety, immediately lodged a police report.
Acting on the report lodged, Miri Criminal Investigation Department personnel detained the suspect for questioning.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.
Further background checks found that the suspect has seven prior criminal records including offences related to drugs.
