MIRI: A local man was arrested on Saturday (Oct3) morning for allegedly stealing a set of tyres and rims of a car belonging to his brother-in-law.

The incident occurred on September 30, while the complainant, a secondary school teacher in Bekenu, went holidaying for five days, leaving the house unattended.

Upon the complainant’s return from his trip, he was stunned to see that some of his belongings inside the house including several electronic gadgets and the rims which were kept inside the house had “disappeared”.

The suspect who is also the complainant’s next-door neighbour was the alleged culprit.

Following a police report lodged by the car owner, a task force team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led by Inspector Erwin Geoffry Ussan picked up the suspect, aged 26 , in Bekenu around 7am on Saturday to assist police investigation.

During the arrest, police also recovered the stolen rim and tyres. However, one tyre was missing as the suspect had sold it to a buyer in Sepupok, Niah.
