BAU: A man was arrested for resisting arrest and attempting to flee from police last night (Feb 11) in Kampung Grogo.

In the 8.45pm incident, the 24-year-old suspect was arrested for refusing to cooperate with the police when he was asked to get out of his vehicle after police had suspected he was involved in drug abuse.

“When the suspect was ordered to get out of the vehicle, he acted aggressively and did not cooperate. Instead, he sped off and attempted to run down the police.

“His attempts were in vain as the car driven by him was struck in between a police vehicle and another car,” said Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon.

He said the suspect was arrested with minimal force which caused him to suffer injuries to his right cheek and right shoulder.

When questioned, the suspect insisted he did not store any illegal items or drugs in his vehicle.

A body search on him and his vehicle did not find any illegal items.

The suspect was arrested under Section 186 of the Penal Code and taken to the Bau district police headquarters for further investigation.
