KUCHING: Police have arrested a man for a brazen armed robbery that happened in a shopping mall in Matang near here.
State CID chief SAC Dennis Leong told the press that the man, 30, had a string of crimes to his name and was nabbed the same day of the robbery.
SAC Leong said the man was armed with a weapon when he robbed a cellphone shop, making away with five cellphones on Monday.
The suspect, who committed the crime in full view of mall-goers, is being detained for further investigation.
Meanwhile, SAC Leong said in such an incident, the public should call the police immediately and not take down the criminal as he was armed.
