SIBU: Police have arrested a man, who yesterday allegedly hit his wife with a table fan and strangled his son, in Sibu Jaya.

In the 7pm incident, the suspect, who is a labourer, came home and accused his wife of having an affair.

The suspect allegedly threw a table fan at his wife and then strangled his son when he tried to protect his mother.

The suspect also allegedly threatened to injure his wife and his son with a machete. Both victims managed to flee the scene and lodged a police report at the Sibu Jaya police station.

Sibu OCPD ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, when contacted today, confirmed the incident and said the 49-year-old suspect was arrested at midnight on Wednesday.

The suspect is currently being remanded until April 24 to facilitate investigation into the case under Section 324 and 506 of the Penal Code.

ACP Zulkipli added that the suspect’s 43-year-old wife suffered injuries to her head while her son had bruises on the neck and right hand. “We also confiscated a machete and a fan as evidence.”
