KUCHING: A man suffered injuries to his back during an early morning fire that destroyed his house here at Stutong Baru.
According to a statement from the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters received a distress call at 4.07am yesterday about the incident.
Firefighters from three stations — Tabuan Jaya, Padungan and Batu Lintang — arrived at the scene to find a single storey house fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was brought under control moments later and firefighters stayed on the scene for the next two hours before departing.
The victim was treated by the emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) before being taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
The cause of the fire and the estimated loss are still under investigation.
