KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here today (Oct 16) sentenced a local man to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to being involved in substance abuse.

Teo Lip Seng, 40, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali as soon as the charge was read out by an interpreter.

He was charged under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 15 (1) of the same Act.

The charge carries imprisonment for up to two years or a fine not up to RM5,000 and be placed under police supervision for a term of up to three years.

Teo was found positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine when he was detained at the Padawan Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) around 4.05pm on April 26 this year.
