KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a local man to three months in prison and fined RM1,000 for stealing electrical appliances from an under-construction house on Monday.

Izamree, 24, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi to the charges under Section 380 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 511 of the same Code.

He was charged with stealing a 30-foot wire, two sockets, four switches and two PVC pipes from a house still under construction at Taman Fitryah, Jalan Bangau, Semariang, at around 4.30 pm.

Zubaidah also ordered him to be imprisoned for one month if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the case facts, a security guard spotted two men coming out of the under-construction house during his patrol around the area.

Realising the guard’s presence, the men ran away but Izamree was swiftly apprehended with the stolen items, which incurred losses for the developer at around RM200.
