SIBU: A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a tree at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman here yesterday. State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the 39-year-old victim, Moran Gagak, from Simunjan, was riding his machine from Sibu Jaya heading to Sibu town when he lost control, veered off the road and hit a tree.

“However, the exact time of the accident is still unknown as passers-by only noticed his remains and the motorcycle wreckage when the sun was up.

“Paramedics from Sibu Hospital, who were summoned to the scene, pronounced Moran dead due to serious injuries at 9am,” he said when contacted yesterday.

The remains were taken to the hospital mortuary for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
