BAU: An elderly man was killed after a tree fell on him at Kampung Barieng Segong, Singai on Wednesday morning (July 22).
Bau Fire and Rescue Station chief Tawang Lingem said that they received an emergency call that the victim Metih Rai @ Rais, 64 was crushed by a tree around 10.50am. A team of firemen was immediately despatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the victim pinned under a fallen tree and immediately proceeded to extract the victim from the trap.
“The victim however, was pronounced dead by Bau hospital medical personnel at the scene of the tragedy,” he said in a statement.
The victim’s body was then handed over to the police and later to Bau hospital for further action.
