BAU : A 21-year old motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car at a traffic light junction along Jalan Bau-Lundu last night (Dec 18).
District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the fatal accident was reported at around 11.30pm.
Investigations revealed that the collision occurred when a 26-year-old woman was driving her car past a traffic light and collided with the motorcycle.
“The driver stopped her vehicle and got out of the car to check the condition of the victim.
“After stepping out, the driver noticed that the motorcycle was laid in front of the car, while the motorcyclist was on the right side of the road,’ he said in a statement today (Dec 19).
As a result of the collision, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Bau Hospital.
Poge said the case is still investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
