KUCHING: A man who was reported missing at sea near Kampung Badong in Daro, Mukah, since Tuesday was found safe yesterday.

A weak and tired-looking Ismail Jem, 55, from Kampung Badong, was found at a beach around 8.52am by residents of Kampung Pasin, about an hour boat ride from the Mukah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations control centre at Pengkalan Batang Lassa.

A search and rescue (SAR) team was dispatched to the location to fetch Ismail after being informed of the discovery.

Ismail who has not eaten for the past two days was handed over to medical personnel from Daro Hospital for a medical check-up shortly after arriving at the operations control centre. 

A total of 50 people comprising members of Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Daro voluntary firefighting unit, police, firefighters and villagers from Kampung Badong took part in the search which ended at 11.56am.
