SIBU: A 34-year-old man was detained by the police yesterday afternoon (Dec 31) for drug possession.
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said that the local man was arrested around 3.30pm at Lorong Nanyang Garden 6 in Sibu.
“An inspection was conducted and he was discovered to be in possession of one medium plastic package containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
He said the drugs weighing about 5.02g were worth approximately RM500.
Zulkipli said that the suspect, who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, had several previous records of drug abuse.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 39A and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
He was remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.
