MIRI: A 29-year-old local man was arrested on Saturday (Aug 31) after police seized approximately 6.33 grams of methamphetamine, worth an estimated RM696.30, from a rented room in Sungai Baong.
“The suspect is believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities,” said Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement today (Sept 2).
He commended the District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division for their successful operation.
The suspect has been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a sentence of two to five years in prison and mandatory caning.
