KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here has ordered a local man to maintain a peace bond for six months after he damaged the wall and door of his father-in-law’s house.

Mustapha Hassan, 39, committed the act in a fit of rage after catching his wife sleeping with another man.

He pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi to the charge framed under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The court ordered Mustapha to serve his bond starting Thursday to prevent further incidents.

According to the case facts, Mustapha went berserk at his father-in-law’s house in Kampung Gita Lama at around 9am on May 12, causing RM200 worth of damages to the wooden wall and front door.

Fearing for their safety, the father-in-law lodged a police report, which led to Mustapha’s arrest on the same day.

Investigations revealed that Mustapha admitted to the property damage due to his wife’s infidelity.

Insp Nur Syafiqa Nyaie prosecuted the case, while Mustapha was unrepresented by counsel.
