KUCHING: A local man was ordered to maintain peace for six months by the Magistrate’s Court here for punching a male contractor during a discussion about a property transaction.

Bong, 54, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code read before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.

Based on the facts of the case, on December 18, 2023, at around 11.30 am at a premises in Saradise, Stutong Road, here the complainant, a contractor, was discussing property transactions with two men.

The discussion about the sale and purchase of a house suddenly led to one of the men punching the complainant’s face and neck.

As a result of the incident, the complainant suffered pain and injuries to the head.

The complainant then filed a police report for further action, leading to the arrest of the accused on December 20, 2023.

Upon investigation, it was found that the accused intentionally caused injury to the complainant.

Therefore, as a deterrent against recurring incidents, Mason Jaro ordered the accused to maintain peace for six months with a bail of RM500.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin, while the accused was not represented by a counsel.
