Man placed on six-month peace bond

KUCHING: A man, who threatened to break his wife’s car window, was today placed on a RM500 bond to keep the peace for six months by the Magistrate’s Court.

Azwan Karim, 30, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to a charge under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

According to the facts of the case, at around 4.05 pm  on September 8, the accused’s wife was driving a car towards Jalan Sultan Tengah when she was blocked by the accused, who was riding a motorcycle.

The accused, in a fit of anger, threatened to break the window of the car his wife was driving.

A witness to the incident, who was the accused’s mother-in-law and seated at the back of the car, witnessed the accused’s actions.

Fearing for her safety and that of other family members, the mother-in-law filed a police report for further action.

The investigation revealed that the accused had blocked his wife’s car in the middle of the road, opened the car door and roughly pulled their eldest child.

The incident disrupted the traffic flow, posed a danger to other road users as well as disturbed the public peace.

As a preventive measure to prevent a recurrence of such incidents, the court placed the accused  on a a six-month peace bond.

The case was prosecuted by ASP Suziana Suleiman while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
