SIBU: A worker from a construction site at Pulau Li Hua here plunged to his death from a 15-foot high building on Saturday.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim, identified as Deli Entri, 65, from Rh Malis, Batu 4, Sebetan, Saratok, was found lying in a pool of blood by a colleague at 2.15pm.

“Police investigation revealed that the victim’s colleague, Jawing Menggel, made the discovery, immediately called for help from the other workers to take the victim to hospital,” said Stanley.

He added that the police rushed to the scene following an alert on the incident from the construction site supervisor, who is also the victim’s nephew.

The victim, however, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Sibu Hospital emergency ward.

Sources said the deceased had health records from Sibu Hospital, was suffering from hypertension and relied on medication before his sudden demise.

The remains have been referred to the Sibu Hospital mortuary for further action.

“The case was classified as sudden death,” Stanley said.
