MIRI: A man was robbed of his RM100,000 gold necklace in broad daylight on Saturday (June 15).
The brazen robbery took place on Jalan Nakhoda Gampar, here, and has since sparked widespread concern among the local community.
The victim was walking along the street when he was approached by a masked suspect.
Based on a CCTV footage that has gone viral and posted on the Miri Community Complaint Facebook page, the suspect emerged from a Honda Jazz and threatened the victim with a knife.
The assailant then forcibly removed the victim’s gold necklace before fleeing the scene in the same vehicle, which was driven by an accomplice.
Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the incident yesterday (June 18).
He said the robbery occurred three days ago and that a police report has been lodged.
The police are searching for the suspects involved and have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
