PADAWAN: Police issued a RM1,000 compound to a grocery store owner for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) last Sunday.

District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said that the enforcement team carried out patrols around 11am at Mile 13, Kuching-Serian Road.

“The team inspected a grocery store and found that the premises was in violation of the SOPs such as not recording customers’ temperature and personal details despite being advised several times.

“The 45-year-old owner of the premises was then taken to Kota Sentosa police station for compounding purposes in accordance to Regulation 10 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No. 7) Regulations 2020,” he said in a statement. Aidil added that the man agreed to the compound and was given a period of 14 days to pay the fine.
