KUCHING: A dispute between neighbours left a man clutching his intestines that spilled out of a huge cut on his stomach in an incident at Kampung Semilang yesterday.
Witnesses revealed that in the 12.30am incident, the 49-year-old victim was approached by a 32-year-old suspect, who was believed to be under the influence of drugs.
This then led to a scuffle between the victim and the suspect before the former was slashed in the stomach and on the head with a sharp object believed to be a machete.
It is believed that the suspect has been holding grudges against the victim since 2017, alleging that the latter was responsible for tipping off the police about his drug abuse which had led to his arrest.
As an act of revenge, the suspect attacked the victim. The villagers, upon hearing the commotion, came to the victim’s rescue and brought the fight to a halt.
The victim was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the suspect was placed under citizen’s arrest before he was handed over to the police for further action.
It is learnt that the suspect also suffered injuries to his head and was referred to the hospital for treatment. He also tested positive for syabu.
A police report has been lodged by the victim’s family members.
