MIRI: A 25-year-old man, who apparently attempted to commit suicide yesterday morning (May 10) in his rented room at Marina Time Square, was rushed to Miri Hospital with a stab wound at the abdomen.
In the 11.30am incident, the victim (whose identity is not immediately known) was spotted clutching a sharp object, believed to be a knife, before stabbing himself with it.
An on-duty security personnel, who happened to be around the area, immediately called an ambulance and the police for help.
However, it was not immediately known why the man attempted suicide.
Investigation on the case is still ongoing.
Currently, the man is being treated at Miri Hospital.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol, when contacted, has confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide.
