BINTULU: A fatal collision between a four-wheel drive (4WD) and a lorry claimed the life of a man today (Aug 28), at Jalan Bintulu-Miri.

The Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department was alerted about the accident at approximately 1.10 pm.

Upon their arrival, the firemen discovered the driver of the 4WD, identified as a 38-year-old Lau Siong Chong was trapped at the driver’s seat.

Fortunately, Lau was not trapped underneath the vehicle, allowing the firemen to quickly remove him from the wreckage.

Lau was immediately handed over to the medical personnel on-site, who assessed his condition.

Sadly, despite their efforts, Lau was pronounced dead at the scene.

In contrast, the driver of the lorry involved in the collision was left unharmed and did not sustain any injuries.

The details of how the accident occurred are still under investigation.

Firemen managed to remove Lau’s body from the vehicle.
