SELANGAU: A local man died on the spot following a two-vehicle collision along KM80, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu on Tuesday (Aug 15).
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the accident involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle, happened at around 2.30 pm.
Both vehicles were reported to have been travelling in the same direction.
“Based on witnesses’ statement, the accident happened when the pickup truck collided with the victim’s motorcycle that suddenly changed lanes.
“As a result, the 45-year-old rider sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Selangau health clinic,” he said.
The victim’s body was later taken to Mukah Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old pickup driver did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
Rizal stated that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
