SIBU: An assistant clerk succumbed to his injuries following a fatal lorry-car collision along Mile 23, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu on Monday.

The victim identified as Mohammad Nurrahim Ramli, 30, died at 6.49pm at Sibu Hospital, about two hours after the accident.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu who confirmed the case said both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions before the collision around 4.15pm.

Investigations found that the victim lost control of his vehicle and entered the lorry’s lane.

“It led to a fatal head-on collision where the front part of the car was badly damaged.

“The victim from Petra Jaya, Kuching, was then promptly rushed to Sibu Hospital by paramedics,” he said.

Meanwhile, the 54-year-old lorry driver was unharmed in the accident.

Alexson noted that the case is still being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
