BAU: A local man can thank his lucky stars after not just escaping a two-vehicle collision but also a fiery death after his motorcycle burst into flames this morning (Feb 8).
The accident, involving a Perodua Bezza and a motorcycle, happened around 10.45 am along KM2, Jalan Bau-Lundu.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firemen from Bau station were dispatched to the scene in front of the Public Works Department (PWD) Bau office.
By the time they arrived, the Yamaha motorcycle was completely engulfed by the fire and was extinguished using water sourced from the fire truck.
Meanwhile, the rider, whose identity and injuries are not known, was taken to Bau Hospital by passers-by for further treatment.
The team also helped to clear the road from accident debris before ending the operation at 11.20 am.
