BAU: A man suspected of raping a teenage girl at a hotel here has been successfully apprehended by the police.
Confirming the arrest, Bau District police chief DSP Jawai Francis stated that the 34-year-old suspect was taken into custody last Wednesday at approximately 1.05 pm.
He said in a WhatsApp message today (Dec 29) that the suspect has been remanded for seven days, starting from December 28, until January 4, 2024.
The investigation is underway under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
Earlier, according to media reports, the 15-year-old victim filed a police report claiming she had been raped at the police headquarters on December 27, around 12.47 pm.
