PADAWAN: Police arrested a man for allegedly threatening to kill his wife and her family if she files for a divorce.
The incident happened on Jan 14 at around 11pm in Kampung Sinar Baru, Mile 14, Jalan Penrinssen.
District police chief, Supt Aidil Bolhassan who confirmed the case, said the complainant (wife) lodged a report after the suspect went to her house to threaten her and her family.
“At about 12.45pm last Saturday, a CID team arrested the 28-year-old suspect in a worker’s quarters at Nirvana Cemetery, Mile 14, Jalan Puncak Borneo.
“Interrogations revealed that the suspect admitted to making the threat if the complainant had filed for a divorce,” he said.
Aidil said background checks found the suspect had a past record relating to drugs and is currently remanded to facilitate investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
