KUCHING: An unemployed local man was sentenced to 14 years in prison and six lashes today after he was found guilty of two charges of causing serious injury to a man and his own wife.
Sessions Court Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad ordered Acheng Husen to serve his jail term from the date of his arrest on April 1, 2020.
Acheng, 41, was found guilty of causing serious injury to Johnti Achung, by using a machete.
The court ordered the defendant to serve eight years and be given three strokes of the cane. He committed the offence at 10.05pm at an unnumbered house in Kapung Bogag, Bau on March 23 last year.
For the second charge, he injured his wife Ona Rex and was sentenced to six years in prison and three strokes of the cane.
The defendant committed the offence at 5pm at their house in the same village on March 23, 2020.
