SAMARAHAN: A man who went missing on Wednesday was found drowned near the Sampun area in Asajaya early morning today.

A fire and rescue department (Bomba) spokesman said the fishermen from the villages nearby spotted the body floating in the river at 6.35am.

“They managed to recover the body and alerted the authority immediately.

“The body was brought to the Kampung Semera Bomba control post where family members has confirmed the deceased as Faddrul Razie Zaini, 30,” he said.

The body has been handed over to the police for further action while the search and rescue (SAR) ended at 7.50am.

The victim was reported missing on Oct 12, after he fell into the river at 5am, during a fishing trip with five friends.

It was reported that he was holding onto an oar before it suddenly broke thus causing him to fall into the water. His friends tried to rescue him but to no avail and alerted the authority.
