SIBU: Police are on the hunt for a burglar who broke into a bird’s nest house at Mile 13, Jalan Oya and escaped with RM6,000 worth of bird nests.

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the incident was first noticed by the 57-year-old owner around 8.30am last Friday (May 21).

“While the owner was inspecting his bird’s nest house, he was shocked to find a hole in a wall.

“The owner found that about 2 kg worth of bird nests with an estimated value of RM6,000 had gone missing,” he said.

Stanley said the victim visited his bird’s nest house daily.

He said the owner last visited the bird’s nest house on Thursday at 2.30 pm.  The house was in a good condition then..

“The victim built a two-storey bird’s nest house on his land about 10 years ago. He believed the hole in the wall was made by the burglar,” Stanley said, adding that the last time the victim collected his bird’s nests was in early March.
