KUCHING: Police are on the hunt for four men believed to have robbed a convenience store and injured its owner and a worker on Monday.
The incident occurred around 10pm at Jalan Semariang here. When the store was in the process of being closed, a man suddenly entered it and punched the worker.
The owner then asked the man to leave but three more men entered the shop. They injured the owner and robbed the shop.
Kuching police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said police and paramedics were alerted by the public.
“The 43-year-old owner suffered head injuries and is still being treated at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) while his worker, 56, bruised his right eye.
“The estimated loss from the robbery is still under investigation.
“Police are currently searching for four male suspects believed to be locals,” he said.
Awang Din urged members of the public with information on the incident to report to the police.
The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years or whipping.
