PADAWAN: The manhunt is ongoing for two jailbirds who are still at large after escaping from Puncak Borneo Prison last Thursday (July 1).
District deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said on Saturday that the escapees have yet to be captured.
“The search operation to locate Mohamad Fikrry Azzarudin Abdullah, 26, and Rahmat Simbolan, 38, are still ongoing,” he said.
However, he was tight-lipped on the authorities’ search focus areas.
According to sources, the search focus is said to be extended to the forest area near Taman Shun Lee, Mile 11.
On Friday, Lim told that all available personnel in Padawan police headquarters (IPD), six teams from the police station and a Tiger Platoon of the General Operations Force (GOF), are involved in the operation codenamed ‘Ops Tutup’.
He pointed out that the teams were spread out to Prima Housing area in Mile 11, the Chinese cemetery in Mile 15, Landeh area, Kampung Jawa and Semenggoh to track down the suspects.
Apart from that, four roadblocks were mounted at Mile 16, Jalan Kuching-Serian; Kampung Bratan, Jalan Puncak Borneo; Jalan Batu Kitang; and Jalan Batu Kawa, to be on the lookout for the suspects.
Fikry and Rahmat were among four inmates who escaped from the prison on Thursday evening. Two of the escapees identified as Bobin Bahan, 29 and Diveni Bunby, 36 have been captured.
Bobin was arrested around 10.50pm at Lorong 2, Kampung Sinar Baru while, Diveni was captured around 6.25pm at Prima Housing area, Kampung Sinar Baru last Thursday.
