MIRI: A manhunt is currently underway following the discovery of a foreign man’s body with gunshot wounds inside a private oil palm plantation in Sepupok, Niah.

The gruesome find was made on the night of July 29.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the discovery, saying that the deceased, believed to be in his 40s, was found around 8 pm.

 The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his neck, face, body, and stomach, indicating he was likely killed using a shotgun.

The police have launched an investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code and are searching for suspects and witnesses.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the body belongs to a foreign national, but the exact identity remains unconfirmed.

ACP Alexson has urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information on social media, as it could cause unnecessary anxiety within the community.

He appealed those with information on the incident to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the nearest police station or calling 085-433730.
