SIBU: Mandarin speaking life insurance agents and financial advisors from all over the country will convene here for the 14th National Mandarin Life Insurance & Financial Planning Summit (ManLIFPS) at Kingwood Hotel from Jan 14 to 15.
The first group of the participants arrived yesterday (Jan 11) and the last group will leave Sibu on Jan 17.
The annual ManLIFPS has been held in different cities in Malaysia promoting continuous learning in life insurance and financial planning professionalism as well as visit places of interest to enhance tourism promotion in the country among members of The National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisers (NAMLIFA).
The NAMLIFA Sibu branch will be hosting this year’s summit for the first time in eleven years, with the last summit being hosted by them in 2013.
The summit organising chairman Kapitan Thomas Tiang said the Sibu NAMLIFA branch is keen to organise the summit after 2013 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed for three years.
“With the success in organising the 14th ManLIFPS, credit must go to the strong support and sponsorship from the Sarawak Business Event of the Department of Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts, Sarawak,” he said.
According to him, the international speakers of the 14th ManLIFPS are Tang Kia Sing, Dr. Kenny Chong, Dr. Alan Tan and Master James Bong of Malaysia, and Tiger Mei with Eric Shen from Taiwan.
He said the annual AKARD Forum will also be held simultaneously by Dr. Kenny Chong as host with two AKARD invited guests, Stephenie Ching and Tan Lay Peng who will be sharing their experience in life insurance industry.
He said the grand opening of 14th ManLIFPS which will be officiated by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah as the guest of honour.
The event’s Gala Dinner will be held in the evening with the Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing as guest of honour.
“The closing and handing over of organising flag to 15th ManLIFPS organiser will also be conducted on the Jan 15 afternoon to be witnessed by the Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.
“The organising committee will also arrange river cruise for the participants to view the waterfront scenery of Sibu as well as visiting a nearby longhouse nearby to experience the cultural heritage of the Iban,” Tiang added.
Also present at the press conference were NAMLIFA Sibu branch chairman, Rali Wong and other organising committee members.
