LAWAS: A father’s darkest fear unfolded as he discovered his son’s lifeless body on the riverbank at Sungai Suang Trusan on Monday night.
Forty-year-old Eddy Geriso, believed to have drowned while fishing, was found at around 10 pm after failing to return home since last Saturday.
Lawas police chief DSP Liong Tindan said that according to the victim’s father, his son had left home in Kampung Murud Suang, Trusan at 10 pm last Saturday to fish at Sungai Suang.
After realising his son had not returned home, the father went to Sungai Suang to search for him.
“While searching along the river, the sight of his son’s body at the riverbank scarred him and the father immediately rushed to Lawas police station to lodge a report.
“Subsequently, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Lawas police station arrived at the scene and discovered Eddy lying on the riverbank,” he said.
The hospital confirmed the victim’s demise at the scene, and his body was taken to Lawas Hospital for further examination before being taken to the Trusan clinic mortuary.
Liong stated that preliminary investigations suggest no foul play involved, and the case remains under investigation.
